One technique that can really make your portrait pop is finding a still body of water for a reflection.  This portrait was taken at Old Airport Beach Park on the Big Island of Hawaii.  The reflection was in a tide pool near the shore.

You also can’t beat a Hawaii sunset as a great background for your next family memory or Christmas card.
